Letter from the Bussey Family

I received this wonderful long letter from Mrs Eluned Bussey this week after she had been sent the Bangor & Anglesey Mail in which my article appeared about the web page I created for the Maesgerichen Community.

Mrs Bussey gave me a run down of her interesting life and how she was born in Sackville Road, at No.28. In 1938 Eluned left Bangor to work in London and only returned in 1945 prior to getting married, she moved to Norfolk and has been there ever since. She tells how once a year she still has a reunion with some of the friends on this photo but due to her husbands health problems this year they may not be able to meet. The venue is London and they have one lady travelling from Derbyshire, Eluned herself from Norfolk, one from Bangor, and South Wales. I think you will agree that is some friendship after all these years and the effort they must each put in to meet up like they do. It would be wonderful to get a picture of them on one of their reunions and I shall write and ask her if she has a recent one of them together.

Mrs Bussey states how this photo was taken in the July at Cae Top when all the girls were due to move up to the then County School. She is paticularly keen to be re-united with one of her friends who she has not been able to contact and maybe someone reading this can help me out. The lady concerned used to live in Maesgeirchen towards the end of the war and before marriage her name was MARGARET GROVES, her family had a cycle shop in Upper Bangor, and the last she heard was that she had 2 children.

If anyone can help then please email me. Eluned still speaks her native language and try's to keep up with local new's as much as possible. I am sure we may have some more photographs coming our way. So I would like to wish Eluned and her husband a speedy recovery and thank them very much for getting in touch with us.getting in touch with us.

The photo on this page was taken during July 1930/31 when the girls were preparing to leave Cae Top School Bangor, for the Girls County School. Eluned Bussey is the one with the much sought after Camera so she is not in this picture but the one doing the photography.
