Recent River Cegin clean up.

Afon Cegin Clean-up

MaesG youngsters got stuck in this month to clear rubbish from our local river. A big "well done" from MATRA to all concerned. Also to the adults who provided safety cover & supervision: Dafydd, Chris, Alun, Robbie & to the staff of the Environment Agency & Keep Wales Tidy.

The river & woods are a tremendous resource for this community; an area for children to play & for all to enjoy some contact with nature. Fly-tipping in the area is vandalism - the spoiling of our common property. The Environment Agency have earmarked Afon Cegin as a flagship project for Wales & have made it clear that they will prosecute in every case were someone is reported for unauthorised dumping. Covert cameras have recently been used with great success in the Conwy area, resulting in fines of £2,000+. The E.A. have emphasised that, from now, fly-tippers will need very deep pockets!

The Project is ongoing & forms part of the overall environmental programme for the estate.
