Here are just some of
the photo's I have received from the Jan.River Cegin clean up.Thanks
to Paul Hockaday of Community First.
Wouldn't it be nice if
the hard work these groups put into cleaning up the area could
be kept. I am sure by now people know that the Council carry
out a pick up service for discarded furniture etc. I will never
understand the mentality of people who can walk up to the fence
by the woods and just tip over their old washing machine, bags
of rubbish, and yes even their old cars.

| THE BIG RIVER CLEAN UP
- JAN.2005 PICTURES. |
 |
|
Jan 14th 2005 once more
drew an enthusiastic crowd of young volunteers from Maesgeirchen
Estate. Now becoming a regular event where combined forces spearheaded
by Community First. Its amazing that however often these groups
meet up to clear the rubbish thrown around the beautiful area
of the River Cegin you can guarantee that a few months later
a similar load will be ready to pick up again. If you look at
some of the items in the piles strewn around you will see they
are not so small, they take a lot of effort gathering together,
dragging to where they can be picked up by skips, vans etc.
It is no small task what is done on these days and everyone
involved are to be congratulated and thanked. The youngsters
& teens especially who give up their time to do such a good
worthwhile job. So often they are not given the credit on the
Estate they deserve because of the handfulls that cause problems
and unfortunately all are then tarnished with the same brush.
These photo's alone and the 35 tons of rubbish they carted from
the river Cegin banks can stand testimony to their sincerity.
Great big THANK YOU and well
done to all from those of us who care, do appreciate what you
do.
