As
work continues on the Cyd Coed Project a digger moved in today to
start working on the drainage problems ready for the path. Also, a
gate which can be accessed by the disabled - by use of their RADAR
key.
This
idea of a 'gate' for access is a great idea by the Countryside for
Wales team. It has an added bonus, in that it will help stop motor
bike riders using it as a dirt track. Bob and I found out about the
'gate' scheme through an enquiry to Conwy Council after I found out
one day that I could not go onto the promenade in Llanfairfechan because
my scooter would not fit through the gate. Llanfairfechan amongst
other areas have a gate that restricts access. However, we were told
by Conwy Council that if we had a RADAR key for the disabled these
gates can be opened. Fantastic, well it is if your disabled and get
denied access to where you want to go and have a right to go.
Hughie
Barns who is organising and indeed was the instigator of this very
project soon got it organised and now has a gate coming. The work
which has been going on today is all part and parcel of the same end
project. The firm concerned is Danny Mullane, of Llanberis a plant
hire and civil engineer company.
