Accident-
girl knocked down on Penrhyn Avenue
|
This
weekend brought some very sad new's when a little girl was knocked
down on Penrhyn Avenue. Reports to date say she is comfortable
in hospital. My family would like to express to the family concerned
our best wishes for a speedy recovery. I have had people write
to me expressing concern over much of the traffic problems in
Maesgeirchen, the speed is just one, the conjestion, the need
for more off the road parking facilities. These things are not
trivial points and this weekend's accident has proved it. MATRA
sent a letter 12 months ago to the Highways Dept, asking for speed
ramps to be put at the corner Wern Las by the swings and play
ground , it is 12 months later and they are still waiting to do
a Traffic Survey. The area where this accident happened you have
Busses off loading, you have a shopping area & Post Office,
and opposite you have a playground and houses. Why is there no
Crossing there? Surely this would be a good idea and is not going
to cost the earth. At least then traffic know they should be prepared
to stop if they see someone approach the crossing. It is also
a shame that we do not adopt the same principle as the USA that
if a bus is stopped anyone who overtakes it is prosecuted and
even sent to jail. Fill in our Form and let us know what you think.
