Under
the rules for MaesG getting the Community grants, and Lottery
funding that it does it is assumed by the powers that be and
distribute this money that a fair preportion would be to support
the needs of the Disabled/Elderly of the area. I do not know
the fine details as yet will try find out but I do know that
access for the Disabled which should be one of the considerations
is not being dealt with. This site has been asked about lowering
kerbs at certain points on the Estate, a post box placed near
Plas Y Gerddi Disabled & Pensioners bungalows in Tan y
Bryn. Here the residents who are infirm or aged have to walk
up a hill to get to the post box and cross a busy road in
doing so. Many who use walking sticks and can't move fast
enough out of the way of fast traffic . We should also have
representation.
If
you want to get into the Post Office, the MATRA shop, some
of the other Groceries stores you would not be able to do
so. I do not know personally and being a wheelchair user myself
what the position is at the Healthy Living Centre but I am
sure they would have realised this and built it accordingly.
Unless you know better? On 12th Feb. the first Community first
partnership meeting was held at the Healthy Living Centre,
it was at this meeting that Bob Hutchinson (hubby) brought
to the gatherings attention that there was a lack of help
and support for the Elderly and disabled on the Estate. Bob
proposed that Sylvia Humphreys be the representative and point
of contact for the Disabled & Elderly since she has an
understanding of people with needs. Cllr Humphreys was consulted
and agreed.
Anyone
who now wishes to make contact or ask for help can do so by
contacting Paul Hockaday at the Communities First Office on
tel 01248 362311 alternatively Cllr Humphreys can be contacted
at the MATRA shop at Llys Dylan from 2-4 Tuesday March 18th.
Plus as always you can always contact this website with your
requests or problems. Please go and discuss or phone for help
if you can't get out. If help is there then why not get it.
Mr Paul Hockaday is a very approachable person who should
bring a breath of fresh air into the area. Everyone knows
Sylvia and she is easy to talk to.
