Llandegai Depot update (26/6/03)
Gwynedd Council have been planning to
move the Housing Maintenance Depot from Llandegai to Caernarfon.
MATRA was concerned that plans had apparently been made to do
this without consultation with this community.
A meeting was held recently at the request
of MATRA. In attendance was Mr Ffrancon Williams of Gwynedd Housing
Dept & representatives of other residents' groups. MATRA acknowledged
that the move may be beneficial put pointed out that they had
yet to be convinced; also that since Maesgeirchen was a Communities
First area, consultation was essential.
This process has now commenced, whilst
the move has been put on hold. MATRA will continue to monitor
this matter to ensure that the interests of this community are
taken into account.
