| Some of you may have seen the article
in last weeks Chronicle on the front page which told of my concern
over the School Transport and safety of children travelling. This
is something I have been aware and concerned about for some time
but the Stuarts Campaign made it the perfect time to now say something
about it. I was upset at the comments by DPOwens of Rhiwlas who
is the Bus company who runs the Llandegai route among others,
because his comments in the paper made it seem that there was
no problems upon their route and they were able to keep a firm
grip of the situation. It was to Llandegai Headmaster I first wrote
because of the YOUNG children who were standing regularly on the
Bus that goes to Tal y Bont I am not the only one who is concerned
or indeed admitted this was a problem that needed to be solved.
Anyway we each have our own conscience to live with.
After my article I had an email from
the mother of Stuart, Joanna Cunningham-Jones which she has
given me permission to print. It just goes to show how much
our support can be seen and appreciated. Please let's keep up
the concern and petition for a better standard of safety.
Following from Joanna Cunningham-Jones.
Dear Cindy
I just wanted to thank you for featuring the campaign on your
matra website. I had a good look through the pages yesterday
before we held a Campaign meeting and bought it to the attention
of the committee. We all agreed that you were doing a fantastic
job in bringing the huge problem of school transport to the
fore and really hope that you continue to do so. We would be
very interested in receiving any feedback you might receive
over the next few weeks and if you feel that we can help in
any way, then please contact us.
With many thanks
Joanna Cunningham-Jones
STUART'S CAMPAIGN
I am still waiting for a reply from me
mails and phone calls to Arriva Coach services.
Below is a letter received from our AC/AM
Denise Idris Jones who is also expressing her concern and support.
Dear Cindy,
Thank you for your e-mail. Of course I remember you and I thank
you for all
of your good work you're doing in Maesgeirchyn.
As a former teacher and a member of the Education Committee
we are about to
look at the Transport Bill in the next committee meeting. I
know that there
are huge problems concerning anti-social behaviour and school
buses. I,
personally, think that we will have to consider manning school
buses as the
only way to ensure safety to all pupils. Noone would consider
not having a
teacher in a classroom but I shall inform you further after
the decision is
made in the Assembly.
